Political Sci and History majors: What are some strategies when reading college level history books?

I have problems comprehending scholarly history books. I believe that it has something to do with the unfamiliar sentence structure, the big words and also the uneven flow. I’m used to reading fiction that has a narrative-like quality to it but whenever I read a history book my brain freezes and I struggle to make sense of the passages. I can’t imagine having the kind of private thoughts that historians have. Their thoughts are nothing but impartial analysis line by line. The nice thing about history/poli sci is that if you go to class and take good notes on the lecture, the professor will usually tell you all you need to know and you won’t have to even look at the textbook. If your prof sucks and you have to read, though, … Read entire article »

Has the Democrat political strategy to retain power met with success?

Has the democrat political strategy of labeling everyone who disagrees with their political ideology as either a big0t, r@cist, h0m0phobe, islamophobe or fundamentalist been successful in expanding it’s base of moderates, independents and people of different ideologies? Has blaming people who have no power in government, like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin, for our current government mismanagement and trillions dollar deficits, been successful in helping expand the democrat party base? I think that rhetoric is dying down, because we have very specific reasons for disagreeing with his ideology, But, I do hear them play the race card when they are on the losing end of an arguement addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fpoliticalcampaignstrategy.org%2Fpolitical-strategies%2Fhas-the-democrat-political-strategy-to-retain-power-met-with-success'; addthis_title = 'Has+the+Democrat+political+strategy+to+retain+power+met+with+success%3F'; addthis_pub = ''; … Read entire article »

Describe and assess the cultural, social, economic, and political strategies adopted by black Americans?

Describe and assess the cultural, social, economic, and political strategies adopted by black Americans in the face of these challenges. To what extent did these strategies represent accommodation or resistance to the prevailing system of racial oppression? I’m having trouble trying to get an idea. Could you help? Little or much help! Thanks so much! Also I’m not looking for an ignorant like "angry" who just commented. Let’s be moral people. History has proven that when we implement our own strategies, it is met with resistance from the white majority. An example would be the black panther party for self defense who only wanted to empower and defend the black community but was wiped out by the fbi. Accomodating a system of racial oppression is rewarded, … Read entire article »

Public relations (PR) is said to have great influence on the society and is in return, being influenced by it. As a PR, what plan that is designed to solve political, economic, cultural, religious, or environmental issues? What plans/ strategies to solve the issue? Well, the PR is separate from the plan. Say for example that you believe the world would be a better place if people maintained correct tire pressure in their automobile tires. Then the plan is to get people to increase tire pressure. The PR is the method to get the word out that tire pressure is important. There are lots of ways to do this: get movie stars to talk about tire pressure, submit articles about it to magazines, do some publicity stunts with underinflated … Read entire article »

What are some good political campaign strategies?

I have a school project. In it, I must create a political campaign. I’m running for some sort of office (president, senator, mayor, etc.). The problem is that I have no idea how to go about this. Can anyone give out a few ideas? Depends on what you want to do. Do you want to win? Or do you want to prove a point? If you want to win, then I suggest you appeal to the masses of your school. Do and say the things that will earn their voite. Even if it means that it goes against your morals, your values, and your core beliefs. If you want to prove a point, then stand for what you honestly believe in regardless of how many people agree or disagree. You may lose, but … Read entire article »

What are the political strategies surrounding the president and immigration?

Being from Texas, it puts him in a tough no-win spot. Bush has typically been for NOT having the tighter controls. He has a working relationship with the Mexican President. But this thing has turned into a firestorm of controversy. There NEEDS to be some sort of answer to compromise as well as possible. What strategies and tactics did people use to combat social, political, and economic injustice from the 1930s?

What strategies and tactics did people use to combat social, political, and economic injustice from the 1930s to 1960s? That period saw a great deal of growth in the trade unions, and then in the laws those trade unions pushed through Congress. Minimum wage, closed union shops, the big political connections with labor. There were a lot of socialists and even communists involved, but in America, that was played down. The term "the working man" came to mean "the union man." How effectively this actually improved social, political and economic conditions is a very debatable question. addthis_url = 'http%3A%2F%2Fpoliticalcampaignstrategy.org%2Fpolitical-strategies%2Fwhat-strategies-and-tactics-did-people-use-to-combat-social-political-and-economic-injustice-from-the-1930s'; addthis_title = 'What+strategies+and+tactics+did+people+use+to+combat+social%2C+political%2C+and+economic+injustice+from+the+1930s%3F'; addthis_pub = ''; … Read entire article »
